Supported printers

What PrinterVision does for each make.

Not every printer can do everything, and we would rather say so up front. PrinterVision supports label printers at three levels: full management for Zebra, management for Honeywell and SATO, and monitoring for every other make.

Three levels of support
  • Zebra Link-OS on WebLink Full management
  • Honeywell · Intermec · Datamax-O'Neil Management
  • SATO Management
  • Toshiba TEC, TSC, Brother, Epson… Monitoring

Summary of the matrix below.

Three levels

Managed where the printer allows it, monitored everywhere else.

Full management

Zebra Link-OS on WebLink

Link-OS 5.0 and later connect directly to PrinterVision over Zebra WebLink: no agent, no server on site.

  • Status and live alerts, settings and common settings
  • Files, firmware rollouts, certificates
  • Wi-Fi and network (802.1x), profiles, batteries of mobile printers
  • Supply levels: not reported over WebLink yet
Management

Honeywell and SATO

Through the collector on site, in each make's own language: Honeywell over SNMP and HCD, SATO over its interface commands.

  • Status, alerts and supplies where the printer reports them
  • Settings, common settings and files
  • Firmware (SATO: not on EP18 models), restart
  • Profiles for Honeywell
Monitoring

Every other make

Toshiba TEC, TSC, Brother, Epson, cab, Godex, Citizen, Printronix, Bixolon, Avery Dennison and other network printers, over SNMP through the collector.

  • Status, alerts, supplies, counters and identity
  • Send files and formats to the print port, restart
  • No settings, firmware or profiles

¹ Zebra printers on WebLink do not report supply levels to PrinterVision yet. ² SATO EP18 models cannot install firmware over the network. ³ Profiles apply to Zebra and Honeywell; SATO settings and files are sent directly. Zebra printers that are not on WebLink can be polled by the collector over SNMP and SGD.

How they connect

Zebra connects itself. The rest goes through one small collector per site.

1

Zebra over WebLink

Link-OS printers keep a secure connection open to PrinterVision, with mutual TLS. No agent on the printer, no server on site.

2

The collector for the rest

A small Windows or Linux service per site or VLAN, enrolled with a one-time code. Outbound HTTPS only.

3

One list for every make

Every printer lands in the same list and dashboard, whatever level of support its make has.

Frequently asked

Questions about supported printers.

Which label printers does PrinterVision support?

Zebra Link-OS printers (5.0 and later) with full management over WebLink; Honeywell (including Intermec and Datamax-O'Neil) and SATO with management through the on-site collector; and other network printers such as Toshiba TEC, TSC, Brother, Epson, cab, Godex, Citizen, Printronix, Bixolon and Avery Dennison with monitoring over SNMP.

Can PrinterVision change settings on any make?

No. Settings, common settings and firmware are for Zebra, Honeywell and SATO. Other makes are monitored: status, alerts, supplies and counters, plus sending files to the print port and a restart.

Why does PrinterVision not show supplies for my Zebra printers?

Zebra printers on WebLink do not report supply levels to PrinterVision yet. Their status, alerts, settings, files, firmware and certificates are all managed over WebLink.

Do I need to install anything?

Not for Zebra Link-OS printers on WebLink. For every other make you install the collector: a small service on one Windows or Linux machine per site or VLAN, which only makes outbound HTTPS connections.
