SOTI MobiControl alternative

Your Zebra printers need a new home after MobiControl.

According to SOTI's own notice, support for Zebra printers managed in SOTI MobiControl ended on 1 February 2025. PrinterVision manages those printers directly over Zebra WebLink, together with your Honeywell, SATO and other makes, from one cloud console hosted in the EU.

What changed

Printer management left MobiControl.

SOTI's support article "Deprecation of Printer Management from SOTI MobiControl 2025.0" says that Zebra printer management moves from MobiControl to SOTI Connect, that SOTI stopped supporting Zebra printers managed by MobiControl from 1 February 2025, and that printers must be removed from MobiControl before upgrading to version 2025.0.

If you are re-evaluating how you manage your label printers anyway, it is a good moment to look at what you actually need: one view of every printer, on every site, of every make.

Moving over

From MobiControl to PrinterVision in three steps.

1

Point Zebra printers at PrinterVision

Set the printers' WebLink address to PrinterVision. They connect with mutual TLS and wait for your approval.

2

Install the collector for the other makes

One small Windows or Linux service per site, enrolled with a one-time code, finds the Honeywell, SATO and other printers on its network.

3

Recreate your settings as profiles

Turn the settings you pushed from MobiControl into profiles and compliance policies, and see straight away which printers drift.

Frequently asked

Questions about leaving MobiControl for printers.

Does SOTI MobiControl still support Zebra printers?

According to SOTI's support notice, SOTI stopped supporting Zebra printers managed by SOTI MobiControl on 1 February 2025, and printer management moved to SOTI Connect. Printers have to be removed from MobiControl before upgrading to MobiControl 2025.0.

Can PrinterVision manage the Zebra printers I had in MobiControl?

Yes, Zebra Link-OS printers from version 5.0 connect directly to PrinterVision over Zebra WebLink: status and alerts, settings, files, firmware rollouts, certificates, Wi-Fi and network, and profiles. Supply levels are not reported over WebLink yet.

Do I need an agent on the printers or a server on site?

No agent on Zebra printers and no server. For other makes, one small collector per site runs on a Windows or Linux machine you already have and only connects outbound over HTTPS.

Does PrinterVision also manage mobile computers?

No. PrinterVision is for label printers only: Zebra, Honeywell, SATO and other makes. Keep your mobile device management for phones and scanners.

What does PrinterVision cost?

€3 per printer per month, excluding VAT, with every feature included and no set-up fee.
